Thanks for joining me today for the second episode of INSPIRED. Happy Friday to you! Goodness are we experiencing some strange times, aren't we? I wish I could say that we'll be back to normal soon but of course, no one can really make that call yet.
Small businesses are taking a big hit right now. And that includes artists like myself! Galleries are closing their doors indefinitely and there has been a huge decline in online sales as people are only spending money on essentials. I don't have a clear path forward within my own business right now. And while I am not sure yet how I will support myself financially during this time I did learn something very important and meaningful in the last two weeks:
This is the perfect time to tend to my audience. I am working to consistently share my artwork on Instagram, to stay on top of my conversations with followers and, to offer lots of free and valuable content.
When I started my business 2.5 years ago, this is it all began! I focused on building an audience and tending to it consistently. And doing so had a number of amazing side-effects that I hadn't anticipated. In fact, I would say that my Instagram audience directed every single step forward in my business.
Working to build and tend to an audience during these complex times is key for folks such as myself who already have an established creative business. Better yet, it's something you can do now even if you haven't started your business yet!
If you're at home right now, unable to work or working less, consider that you have a clear path to starting your creative business, NOW.
In fact, you can use this time to build a beautiful foundation for a business that can then come to fruition when this pandemic dies down.
So, in this episode, I share how I started my creative business on Instagram. I want you to see that it is completely possible to start working towards the career you love right now and find yourself living your ideal life in just a few months.
Instagram opened doors for me that I never even knew were there! And I am so grateful that I listened to my intuition and started down this track. I could have never imagined that I'd be where I am right now.
I hope you enjoy this episode! And let me know what you think in the comments below!
